Low-Income Specific Support

 Occupational Therapists can: 
- Provide information to clients who may need essential services such as food or health care
- Inform clients of various options they have in housing, transportation or education
- Refer clients to social work or support programs available throughout the city

- Many resources on skill development, employment, interview assistance, coping with crisis, hotlines, financial assistance

- Must be referred by employment assistance / social service agency

- People eligible for income support can receive card to cover prescription drugs, eye examsand glasses, dental care, emergency ambulance services, diabetic supplies and enrollment in Alberta Health Care Insurance

Income Support

Income Support (Government of Alberta)

- Provides for families who cannot take care of their basic needs
- For those with difficulty working due to mental illness or physical health problems, people who are looking for work or people who are upgrading / training
- Provides health benefits, information and training on job search, obtaining child support payments

Emergency Needs Allowance
- Covers emergency costs of food, housing and repairs

- Alberta Children’s Treatment Services card (applying for children/youth in a group home) 
- For those with no Health Benefits Card, but are below the low-income cut-off line

KidsSport 
- Provides: grants to children from low-income families to participate in registered sports programs
- For low-income, unemployed, AISH and income-support families
