Canada

- It has been predicted that the number of immigrants in Canada by 2050 will be approximately 230 million (Tiwari & Wang, 2008).

- The number of Asian immigrants now constitutes 59% of all immigrants in Canada, with members mostly from East Asia (ie. Hong Kong and mainland China), and South Africa (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka) (Tiwari & Wang, 2008).

Edmonton (from Statistics Canada)

- 165,615 immigrants are currently in Edmonton, Alberta 

- of the 165,615 immigrants, 85,840 are female and 79,780 are male

- from 2001 to 2006, 29,555 immigrants arrived to Edmonton
- 92,040 people in Edmonton do not speak English or French in their home

- the largest visible minority groups in Edmonton are from greatest to least (since before 1991):
